Chemical Lab Technician at Rivan Industries — Synthetic fuel startup

As a Chemical Lab Technician, you will drive the R&D process through hands-on experimentation, helping Rivan scale their modular plants 1000x over the next two years. You will be the engine of innovation in their Bermondsey-based facility.

• Design, build, and operate bench-scale experiments focusing on gas-solid reactions including hydration, carbonation, and calcination.
• Execute meticulous test plans and utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) principles to accelerate the hypothesis-test-iterate cycle.
• Analyze complex data sets and present technical findings to the broader engineering team to refine modular plant designs.

• Holds 2–5 years of hands-on laboratory or pilot-scale experience within a chemical engineering or applied chemistry environment.
• Possesses a degree or equivalent (HNC/HND/BSc) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with strong knowledge of gas-solid systems.
• Demonstrates proficiency in data analysis using tools like Excel, MATLAB, or Python alongside a rigorous approach to lab safety.
