Head of Talent at $25M-funded AI safety nonprofit startup

Help protect humanity by building the workforce that steers the future of AI. This $25M-funded San Francisco startup has already trained 6,000+ people for roles at Anthropic and DeepMind, and now they need a Head of Talent to triple their own team. You’ll work directly with the CEO to source and close world-class researchers and operators, moving at startup speed to solve one of the most important talent problems of our time. You will lead the ambitious effort to triple a high-impact team, hiring 20 exceptional people over the next year. As a strategic partner to the CEO, you’ll build the recruiting infrastructure from scratch, map the AI safety landscape, and personally close top-tier talent from major AI labs and startups.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Source relentlessly through cold outreach, events, and deep networks to build a pipeline of 50+ qualified candidates in Ashby.
  • Own the end-to-end candidate experience, maintaining a first-choice offer acceptance rate of ≥80% through persuasive, mission-driven closing.
  • Dramatically accelerate hiring speed, reducing the median time from first contact to accepted offer to four weeks or less.
