Lead Backend Engineer at Midnite - Series C fintech backed by The Raine Group

Join Midnite as the technical lead for our greenfield AI & Back Office team. In this player-manager role, you will build the internal platform powering our global operations while driving practical AI integration across engineering workflows. You will lead three engineers to ship high-quality Python systems that redefine how our business operates daily.

• Architect and build the core backend systems for Midnite’s internal back office platform, focusing on configuration management and operational APIs.
• Manage and mentor a small team of three fullstack and backend engineers, maintaining a high bar for code quality and professional growth.
• Identify and prototype AI-powered improvements such as automated documentation, RAG pipelines, and intelligent alerting to reduce operational toil.

• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering with strong Python proficiency and a solid foundation in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Proven ability to lead or mentor engineers while remaining hands-on as an individual contributor in a fast-paced environment.
• Practical experience integrating LLMs and AI APIs into production systems, with a pragmatic approach to building useful business tools.
