Security Engineer at Maze - Series A AI-native cybersecurity startup

As the founding internal security hire at Maze, you will architect the company’s security foundation from the ground up. Reporting to the CTO, you will build automated monitoring, harden AWS infrastructure, and lead compliance for a platform already trusted by Fortune 200 companies. This role balances deep technical execution with high-level security strategy.

• Design and implement comprehensive security monitoring, logging, and automated alerting systems to serve as the company's first line of defense.
• Harden AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform and security-as-code principles to ensure a scalable, secure-by-design environment.
• Lead technical preparation for SOC2 and ISO27001 certifications while establishing pragmatic security policies that maintain engineering velocity.

• 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience, ideally as an early security hire at a fast-growing Series A or B startup.
• Deep technical proficiency in AWS security, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation.
• Proven ability to balance rigorous security standards with business speed, moving beyond "security theater" to implement practical, high-impact technical controls.
