Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Plural-backed synthetic fuel startup

You will own the AC power architecture for the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant, designing systems that convert renewable energy into carbon-neutral methane. By bridging the gap between direct air capture and high-power electrolysis, you will eliminate technical bottlenecks to help the company scale its modular plant technology 1000x within two years.

• Take full ownership of AC power system architecture, including power distribution, protection strategies, and panel design for modular chemical plants.
• Design and integrate 3-phase systems, pumps, and heaters across direct-air-capture units and alkaline electrolysers.
• Lead panel certification activities (CE/UKCA) and contribute to functional safety via HAZOPs, FMEAs, and SIL/PL determination.

• 5+ years of industrial electrical design experience working with power systems, industrial machinery, or complex process environments.
• Expert proficiency in electrical CAD tools such as Solidworks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD for producing detailed schematics.
• Deep understanding of functional safety standards (IEC 61508) and experience navigating the Machinery and Low Voltage Directives.
