Staff Engineer at DCVC-backed AI biology startup founded by AlphaFold lead

You will lead the technical evolution of a proprietary biochemistry search and discovery platform, transitioning it from an internal tool to a production-ready external product. As a high-agency generalist, you will architect cloud infrastructure, design greenfield database systems for ML training, and build production-grade APIs that enable revolutionary research in pharma and energy.

• Evolve the core ML inference service into a production-ready product, managing everything from API enhancements and observability to security hardening and deployment.
• Design and implement a robust database architecture to integrate structured biochemistry data with unstructured experimental results for ML training pipelines.
• Manage multi-account AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform, overseeing the migration of legacy GCP systems and automating CI/CD workflows.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of owning complex technical systems and production services end-to-end.
• Deep expertise in Python and the ML infrastructure ecosystem, including experience with model serving, GPU compute, and data pipeline tooling.
• Advanced proficiency with cloud-native technologies, specifically AWS, Terraform, Docker container orchestration, and relational/vector similarity search databases.

• Exceptional pedigree: Work directly with a team from DeepMind, CERN, MIT, and Google, led by the founder of the landmark AlphaFold project.
