Join a three-person founding team as a Design Engineer to build the future of creative tools. You will own the frontend experience end-to-end, bridge the gap between Figma and production, and ship React components directly to an infinite canvas. This role is perfect for builders who prioritize visual craft and engineering excellence.
Design Engineer at Fiddle
Fiddle is a San Francisco-based startup redefining the design-to-code workflow with an IDE built for taste-makers. Founded by an Adobe top 10 designer and elite engineers from Grok, they’re replacing static handoffs with an infinite canvas where production React code is the medium. As a Design Engineer, you’ll join a tiny, craft-obsessed founding team of three, owning the frontend experience and bridging the gap between visual intent and shipping. If you have a beautiful portfolio, deep React expertise, and a founder’s mindset, this is your chance to define the visual and technical identity of a product built to outlast AI slop.

Role overview
Fiddle is a software tool that lets product and design teams work directly with their production codebase on an infinite canvas, enabling designers to iterate rapidly, explore real components in context, and collaborate more fluidly with engineers and teammates.[13] It is positioned as a modern design environment where code is the primary design material, allowing users to inspect, manipulate, and visualize live code interfaces instead of relying solely on static mockups.[13] The platform focuses on bridging the gap between design and engineering by giving designers a way to prototype and refine experiences using the same code that runs in production, improving fidelity, handoff, and team alignment.[13]
Our team includes folks who have built evals at Grok, MMO games, guest lectured at Stanford and were listed by Adobe as a top 10 designer globally.
What you will do
- Design and ship high-fidelity React interactions and components directly to production on an infinite canvas environment.
- Shadow designers and engineers to refine the Fiddle product story, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of a user’s technical competency.
- Prototype new features and interactions while helping hire and elevate the engineering culture within a tiny, high-velocity team.
Who this is a fit for
- You have a portfolio of distinctive visual work and a deep understanding of the technical constraints surrounding modern design workflows.
- You possess professional experience shipping React components and TypeScript in production environments, moving beyond just static mockups or prototypes.
- You are a high-agency builder, potentially a former founder, who thrives in intense ideation sessions and prioritizes craft above all else.
Why this role is remarkable
- Work at the intersection of visual craft and engineering on a product where code becomes the design medium, eliminating painful handoffs.
- Join a high-caliber founding team including an Adobe top 10 designer and engineers with backgrounds in LLM evals and real-time MMO systems.
- Exercise extreme ownership over both the brand identity and the technical architecture of a tool designed to be the IDE for taste-makers.
