Role overview
Toolkit's mission is to eliminate grunt work in every company, starting with finance teams. Finance teams waste 25-50% of their year on grunt work due to siloed data. Our product (in private alpha) reconciles data across all sources and makes it easy to analyse in Excel.
We are a deeply technical team obsessed with the unglamorous problem of inefficiencies in every company. We are backed by Entrepreneur First and the fund behind Brex, Snowflake, and Anduril, with a $3.4M seed round raised in December 2024.
Hiring for Founding Engineers in-person in San Francisco.
What you will do
- Architect agent orchestration infrastructure that maintains deep context and institutional knowledge across complex, multi-step financial workflows.
- Build a high-performance reconciliation engine capable of processing millions of rows and ingesting real-time data from ERP, CRM, and HRIS systems.
- Ship weekly customer-facing features based on direct feedback from CFOs, iterating rapidly on the balance between human direction and AI execution.
The ideal candidate:
- Proven experience designing scalable system abstractions and building robust scaffolds that ensure high-quality code outputs at scale.
- Passion for AI-frontier development and a desire to master the use of coding agents to radically accelerate engineering cycles without sacrificing quality.
- Strong product intuition with the ability to break down complex financial problems into parallelizable work streams and autonomous agent tasks.
Why this role is remarkable
- Massive ownership as the 4th engineer on a 6-person founding team, directly influencing the product's architectural direction and technical culture.
- High-velocity environment with $3.4M in Seed funding from premier Silicon Valley VCs and a product already in private alpha with top-tier CFOs.
- Unique opportunity to define "AI-native engineering" by building internal systems that leverage coding agents to ship mission-critical financial infrastructure at frontier speeds.
