Founding Software Engineer at Alcor Labs

Join an elite team as the first engineering hire at a $5M seed-stage startup building AI-powered smart glasses for the industrial workforce. Backed by A* and industry veterans from SpaceX, this company is already generating revenue through pilots with multi-billion dollar enterprises like Equans. You will have a massive impact, owning the computer vision pipelines and agentic reasoning loops that guide manual workers in real-time. If you are a high-agency builder with deep full-stack muscle and a passion for physical AI, this is your chance to secure a founding seat and shape the future of industrial intelligence in San Francisco.

About this role

Role overview

As the first engineering hire, you will build the AI co-pilot for skilled manual workers using smart glasses. You will own the real-time video/audio pipelines and agentic reasoning loops that guide technicians in the field. This is a high-intensity role bridging computer vision, edge deployment, and full-stack product engineering.

About the company

Alcor Labs

Alcor Labs

Vision AI, Wearable AI, field services, Robotics2–10+ employees

Building the AI co-pilot for manual workers starting with datacenter and energy infrastructure technicians. We give technicians smart-glasses with custom VLMs that automates hours of daily reporting, and can guide any user through any task. Already live with two multi-billion dollar companies.

Founders are: Elior - Harvard/NASA researcher in computer vision and physical AI (NeurIPS, ICCV) Gabriel - MIT Machine Learning, quant researcher in deep learning, quit to found Alcor.

What you'll do

What you will do

  • Architect and scale real-time video and audio pipelines from smart glasses through mobile edge relays to cloud-based vision-language models.
  • Build and productionize agentic co-pilot loops that allow VLMs to reason over live streams and provide real-time guidance to workers.
  • Design and implement data pipelines handling hundreds of GB/day of video data into tiered archival storage for model training and observability.

Who you are

Who this is a fit for

  • A full-stack software engineer or AI craftsperson with a track record of shipping production-grade products from 0-to-1 in intense startup environments.
  • Hands-on experience with applied AI, specifically multimodal models (VLMs), real-time computer vision, or production-scale perception systems.
  • Proficiency across the modern stack, including Python, TypeScript/React, and experience deploying containerized services to edge or on-prem environments.

Why this role

Why this role is remarkable

  • Significant founding equity and end-to-end ownership of a product category with two live enterprise pilots already generating $300+/seat/month.
  • Backed by A* (Vikram Ramakrishnan + Gautam Gupta) and Harry O'Hanley (CEO Long Wall, ex-SpaceX), focusing on a massive market at the intersection of wearables and physical AI.
  • Unique opportunity to build a data moat of egocentric video that will power the next generation of robotics foundation models for industrial infrastructure.
