Network Software Engineer at Blaxel

Blaxel is building the first AI-native cloud from the ground up, and they're looking for a Network Software Engineer to architect their VPC stack from scratch. You’ll work directly with founders who previously built and sold ForePaaS to OVHcloud, using Rust and Go to build high-performance dataplane systems that outperform traditional clouds. If you want to design a cloud networking stack without legacy constraints, this is a rare opportunity to own a critical piece of AI infrastructure.

Role overview

As a Network Software Engineer at Blaxel, you will architect and implement the high-performance networking foundation for the first AI-native cloud. You’ll build an SDN fabric from scratch using Rust and Go, spanning virtual networking stacks (VPP, DPDK, eBPF) and distributed control planes to deliver throughput and latency that surpasses traditional cloud providers.

Blaxel is AWS for AI agents. We’re a new kind of cloud computing infrastructure optimized for the unique demands of agentic AI, leveraging a purpose-built 25ms cold-start serverless compute engine.

Now processing billions of agent requests, we power the coding agents and background AI tasks infrastructure for top AI startups. Founders choose us when they hit the limits of general-purpose clouds. We solve the hard infrastructure problems—statefulness, ultra-low latency, and secure sandboxed code execution—so they can focus on building their core AI products.

We raised a $7.3M seed round led by First Round Capital.

What you will do

  • Architect and implement a high-performance VPC dataplane using Rust, VPP, DPDK, eBPF, and XDP to support next-generation agentic AI workloads.
  • Develop distributed control-plane systems in Go and Rust, including IPAM, L2/L3 routing, ACL engines, and global traffic routing services.
  • Operate large-scale networking workloads on bare-metal clusters utilizing IPv6-only addressing while maintaining deep observability via custom flow and packet instrumentation.

Who this is a fit for

  • Possesses 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or cloud networking, with strong proficiency in building high-performance distributed systems using Rust or Go.
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in networking internals, including IPv6, BGP/ECMP, overlay technologies like VXLAN, and low-level tools such as DPDK or eBPF.
  • Thrives as a zero-to-one builder with high ownership, capable of taking complex networking primitives from initial architecture through implementation and production operations.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Build a cloud networking stack from zero, designing the entire architecture for overlay networks, distributed routing, and traffic orchestration without legacy constraints.
  • Join a high-traction team backed by $7.3M from First Round Capital, founded by industry veterans who previously built and sold ForePaaS to OVHcloud.
  • Solve extreme technical challenges for agentic AI, processing billions of requests and engineering systems for sub-millisecond latency and multi-Gbps throughput at scale.
