Role overview

Join a founding engineering team building a revolutionary optical wireless platform designed to replace traditional RF for high-performance robotics. You will take full technical ownership of the optical analog front-end, bridging the gap between free-space signals and digital networks. This role is critical for enabling sub-millisecond latency in next-generation physical AI systems.

About the company

Seed-stage hardware communication startup

What you will do

  • Design and own the complete optical analog front-end signal chain, including photodetector interfaces, transimpedance amplifiers, and high-speed filtering.
  • Implement and optimize advanced modulation schemes such as PAM-4 and NRZ while managing high-speed data conversion and clocking architectures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FPGA and systems engineers to integrate complex modulation blocks and ensure signal integrity from schematic to PCB.

Who this is a fit for

  • 5+ years of professional experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design with a specific focus on high-speed optical wireless or fiber optic transceivers.
  • Deep technical proficiency in designing low-noise receiver paths, PLL-based synchronization systems, and interfacing with high-performance FPGA platforms.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset suited for a fast-paced lab environment involving hardware bring-up and characterization using advanced optical test equipment.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Founding team opportunity with significant equity at a venture-backed startup solving the fundamental latency bottlenecks of modern wireless communication.
  • Work at the bleeding edge of non-line-of-sight optical technology, developing hardware that outperforms current Wi-Fi and 5G standards by orders of magnitude.
  • Direct impact on the future of robotics and physical AI through a secured partnership with one of the world's largest industrial automation users.
