Role overview

As one of Clove’s first engineering hires, you’ll own features end-to-end across consumer apps, adviser platforms, and internal systems. Working without PMs in a small, senior team, you will design clean APIs and polished UIs using Go and React to build a more accessible future for financial advice.

Financial services1-25 employees

Money shapes everything where we live, the choices we make, the futures we dream about. But the ‘system’ often feels out of reach, full of jargon, and built for someone else.Clove exists to change that. To meet people where they are and give guidance that’s clear, personal, and actionable - now, not someday.

Building this takes a team that cares about clarity, empathy, and the details that make a real difference. We’re looking for engineers, designers, and advisors who want to help people feel confident about money, and shape the future of financial services.

Join us. Let’s make money make sense.

What you will do

  • Build and ship features across the entire product surface, including the consumer application, adviser platform, and internal workflow orchestration tools.
  • Design and implement resilient APIs and thoughtful UIs using a modular Go monolith and React frontends deployed on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Establish foundational engineering patterns, quality bars, and testing conventions that will define the technical culture as the company scales.

Who this is a fit for

  • Strong full-stack fundamentals with the ability to navigate both API design and polished UI development, ideally with experience in Go or React.
  • Product-minded self-starter who thrives in 0→1 environments and has a track record of shipping impactful features based on user feedback and data.
  • High degree of autonomy and craft, with a focus on making software feel considered, trustworthy, and simple to use for complex financial tasks.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Join as an early hire in a senior team of five engineers led by Ed Stephinson (ex-incident.io and Netlify), offering immense technical influence.
  • Backed by $14M from top-tier investors Accel, Kindred, and Air Street Capital, providing the stability and momentum to tackle a massive, underserved market.
  • True product ownership in a “no-PM” environment where you solve ambiguous problems from first principles and see your work directly impact users’ lives.
