Role overview

You will own the backend architecture for a sophisticated SaaS platform that processes hundreds of millions of rows of cloud billing data. Navigating complex OLTP and OLAP systems like PostgreSQL and ClickHouse, you will build sub-second APIs that help Fortune 500 enterprises manage millions in infrastructure spend with total precision and clarity.

What you will do

  • Design and operate robust backend services using Python and Flask that serve as the backbone for the flagship Skyway cloud financial platform.
  • Build and maintain high-performance APIs and data validation patterns that enable frontend and data engineers to deliver low-latency product experiences.
  • Optimize complex data workflows across PostgreSQL and ClickHouse to ensure financial correctness and observability for clients making million-dollar decisions.

Who this is a fit for

  • 5+ years of professional backend experience with at least 3 years explicitly building and operating production-scale services in Python.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and experience managing data-heavy applications using both transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) databases like ClickHouse.
  • A product-minded engineer who thrives in high-autonomy startup environments and values shipping reliable, high-quality code over following rigid specifications.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work at the ground floor of a startup with a massive "unfair advantage"—an existing community of 35,000 subscribers and deep Fortune 100 relationships.
  • Tackle extreme technical challenges involving near-unbounded data cardinality and the ingestion of terabytes of unstructured commercial billing contracts.
  • Join a small, elite team of under 10 people where you will have total autonomy to shape foundational architectural decisions and ship code daily.
